What personal information do we collect and why?

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser string to help detect spam.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using the service. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy is located at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public along with your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website may download and extract any location information from images on the website.

How long we keep your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
